Housing Development Agency Act


This Act establishes the Housing Development Agency which is mandated to facilitate the acquisition of land in a way that complements the capacities of Government across all spheres. It is also required to, in consultation with the relevant owner, identify, acquire, hold, develop and release state, privately and communal owned land for residential and community purposes for the creation of sustainable human settlements. Moreover, this document establishes a Board to govern the Agency which is mandated to take decisions on behalf of the Agency and gives effect to those decisions. Finally, this Law contains a list of punishable offences and penalties as well as provisions on limitations of liability of the Agency and its employees.
