Rental Housing Act

This Act mandates the Government to promote a stable and growing market that progressively meets the latent demand for affordable rental housing among persons historically disadvantaged by unfair discrimination and poor persons, by the introduction of incentives, mechanisms and other measures that improve conditions in the rental housing market. Moreover, this Law contains general provisions on the relationship between landlord and tenant as well as establishes a Rental Housing Tribunal which is required to not only hear complaints in relation to unfair rental practices but also lay down general principles governing conflict resolution in the rental housing sector.

This document repeals the Rent Control Act, 1976.
